Born and raised in Pasadena, CA, Taylor is a professional actress, dancer, and model. From classical ballerina to commercial dancer, her dance background spans several styles and influences including salsa, improvisation, jazz, and hip hop. In addition to dancing, Taylor has always had an affinity for acting and storytelling through film, and has studied Meisner technique at Baron Brown Studio in Santa Monica as well as commercial technique at Killian's Workshop. An avid fan of art films and the fusion of art forms to more vividly tell stories, Taylor is most passionate about working on projects which combine the universal languages of dance and music with cinematography.
Taylor began her ballet training at Pasadena Dance Theatre with Cynthia Young and Laurence Blake. She performed in PDT’s annual performances of The Nutcracker in soloist roles and danced in their numerous spring productions including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Graduation Ball, and Beauty and the Beast. Taylor continued her training at the renowned Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles in the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute’s Professional Training Program under the direction of Glenn Edgerton and Leslie Carothers-Aaroma. There she was able to learn and perform outstanding repertory pieces by Balanchine, Jiri Kylian, Jose Limon, Hans Van Manen, and others. Additionally, she performed principal and soloist variations from the classical ballets Paquita and Raymonda. While at Colburn, Taylor also had the opportunity to work with David Howard, Finis Jung, Dwight Rhodan, and Desmond Richardson in workshops and master classes.
Ms. Swantek attended summer intensives throughout her pre-professional years at San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Kaatsbaan, and The Joffrey Ballet.
In 2009, Taylor moved to Chicago after she was accepted to The Joffrey Ballet’s Academy of Dance Trainee Program, directed by Anna Reznik and Alexei Kremnev. As a trainee, Taylor had the opportunity to work with members of the company and academy artistic staff including artistic director Ashley Wheater. During her time with the Joffrey she performed selections from both classical and contemporary ballets including The Firebird, Paquita, and Modern Times, choreographed by Alexei Kremnev. Taylor also had the opportunity to dance in the Joffrey Ballet’s 2010 Spring Gala.
Following her time at the Joffrey, Taylor chose to pursue more focused training in contemporary dance and improvisation at Foster Dance Studios in Evanston, led by Ronn Stewart. Quickly reaffirming that her passion for dancing was not limited to classical ballet, Taylor continued to expand her dance horizons and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a more varied career. After moving back to the west coast, she signed with Go 2 Talent Agency and has since appeared on television and in music videos with major artists such as Taylor Swift, Kygo, and Maroon 5. Ms. Swantek has also recently performed in live productions with Alexandre Magno's Magno Artist Alliance Show Series, Pacific Ballet Dance Theatre, KIN Dance LA, J's Hair Studio, and independent short films.
In addition to ballet, Taylor has trained in jazz, salsa, Russian character, and hip hop; and extensively in the Horton, Limon, and Graham techniques of modern dance. Early in her dance career, Ms. Swantek found a passion for choreography and looks forward to continuing to explore and pursue choreographic opportunities in the future.
Currently, she is also teaching Pilates, writing poetry, and representing Eagle Rock Werkshop Clothing as a brand ambassador. In her spare time, Taylor enjoys traveling, gardening, baking, and interior design.
